A Time to be Born
‘Having just given birth to my first child, the poems made me realize that whilst we are all so very different, some experiences are universal. It was good to read in words and see in such beautiful drawings, the strange and mysterious feelings that at times over the last few months have threatened to overwhelm me.’

The Message

Under the substances
a stillness.
The revelation of the Wisemen
we were born with.
The circle of light we carry
at the centre of our bodies
knowing and forgetting, see
with scoured eyes when we give birth
lose, and discover again
season after season
because we are orchard.

The Message

‘Through the months of pregnancy, I was letting go of so many things – all my old life, almost everything I was used to thinking of as my own. I was becoming something else – someone who was actually carrying a life.’’
